Just wanted to share some cool stuff I’ve come across lately about the rise of paragolf. It’s truly amazing to see how this sport has gained immense popularity in recent years, attracting players worldwide. The unique challenges faced by paragolfers and their inspiring stories of triumph and perseverance are truly something to behold. One article I found highlights Daniel Rornes, who became the Danish Paragolf Champion in 2020. This guy is not only a fantastic player but also an advocate for inclusivity in golf clubs. It’s inspiring to see people like Daniel working to make the sport more accessible and connected to disabled individuals in their local communities. Another interesting piece I stumbled upon discusses the growth of adaptive golf. This instructor is playing a central role in helping paragolf gain momentum. The PGA of America even supports the Conquerors Paragolf Championship, further highlighting the rising popularity of this unique form of golf. One particularly powerful story I found is about Kris Aves, a Metropolitan Police officer who was severely injured during the Westminster Bridge terrorist attacks. Despite facing immense challenges, Kris continues to play golf using a paragolfer. His determination and resilience are truly inspiring. If you’re interested in checking out more about paragolf, you can follow Paragolf on Instagram, where they share some incredible content and profiles of players. It’s truly uplifting to see the community growing and gaining recognition. Lastly, for all the paragolf enthusiasts out there, registration for the 2024 Conquerors Paragolf Championships will close soon! The fourth annual event promises to be exciting and full of incredible talent. I hope you find these articles as fascinating as I did. Paragolf is a sport that deserves more attention, and the stories behind it are truly awe-inspiring. Take care and have a great day! |

Hope this finds you well and working on your game!! Here’s the latest update on the 2024 Conquerors tournament in Scottsdale:
Currently, 62 participants have pre-registered for the event. Keep in mind that registrations will officially close on 4/07/2024. Invoices for the balance payments due will be sent out this weekend. Splitting the registration into two transactions has proven to be successful in encouraging early registrations.
The accommodations agreement for the tournament has been finalized with the Orange Tree Resort, which will be the host hotel facility for the event. 50 units have been committed for Monday check-in and Friday checkout. All units are 1-bedroom condos that can accommodate up to three people. More information, rates, and general information can be found on their website. Please note that accessible rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and the discount code will expire on 4/30/2024, so book your room early. The organizers are also working with VRBO and AirBnB to offer a discount program for local homes for the week.
In reviewing last year’s event and analyzing where money was spent unnecessarily, it has been decided that instead of providing breakfast or lunch for each round, each participant will receive a $10 credit coupon for each day of the tournament (3 rounds/certificates) that can be redeemed at any F&B establishment on the Orange Tree property. This includes the restaurants, sports bar, or even the on-course beverage carts. The organizers will print the coupons and include 3 in each participant’s swag bag. The coupons can be used one a day or all in one day, depending on the player’s preference. The certificates are used in $10 increments and will not be replaced if lost. Also, if two certificates are used for a $16 purchase, there will be no change or credit issued.
The organizers are also considering adding a coupon for a shirt that will allow players to order their shirt online, eliminating the need to guess on sizes and inventory products.
A committee meeting will be scheduled in the next few weeks to determine the yardages/tees that will be used based on classification. The organizers will strive to be fair and foster a more competitive environment. Also, they need to decide whether or not the overall champions will need to compete from the same tees or just base it on classifications. It’s important that whatever decision is made, consistency is maintained.
We will be making an announcement on the location of our awards banquet this coming week.
The organizers welcome your comments on any or all of the items mentioned above.
Stay tuned to our blog at https://www.tiu4all.org for constantly updated information. We will be sending another update two weeks from this weekend. Thank you and we’re looking forward to seeing you at the tournament, and remember that as entries will be limited for this event, get on board as soon as you can.
