2022 Conquistador Paragolf Championships is officially in the books!

Our 2022 Championships came to a successful end on Thursday April 14 at the El Conquistador Golf Club in sunny Tucson. Hats off to our 2022 Men’s Champion, Robert Walden and our 2022 Woman’s Champion, Amanda Cunha! Although we had some challenging winds in the first round, the famous Tucson weather held true with sunny calm days for the balance of the tournament. We had quite a few first time classification winners this year and everyone had a great time.

Final results

New this year are the Inspirational awards which were given to those individuals who represent what’s best about Adaptive Golf as well as making a difference in the game. This year’s Men’s winner was Danny Acosta, who has achieved his lifelong goal of becoming a PGA professional/teacher. The Women’s winner was shared by Norma Trujillo, Deborah Smith, Sarah Larson, and Bailey Bish. These exemplary ladies are the faces of this year’s TIU4ALL theme, “Women of Substance in Adaptive Golf“. Our hats are off to all of you for what you’ve accomplished this year.

We need to thank our golf hosts, El Conquistador Golf & Tennis/Town of Oro Valley and our long time catering partners, Firetruck Brewery for their great support and hosting the events for the week. A special shoutout to our most ardent supporter, Jim Click, for your support of these superb adaptive athletes.

Finally, we’re already starting the planning for the 2023 Paragolf Championships which will take place April 17-20, 2023. We are in the process of negotiating a three year deal with a new golf facility that is going to be spectacular! We’re hoping to make an announcement on this within the next couple of weeks.

A million thanks to all of you who were able to attend this year and we ardently hope that you all can attend next year’s event as all. Fairways and Greens!!

Current Update on the Conquistador Paragolf Championships (03/29/2022)

Only 12 more days until the Conquistador Paragolf and we want to make sure everyone has the most current information:

Hotel room blocks have now expired. You can still book at the Westward Look or Hilton (subject to availability) or the Holiday Inn Express or Fairfield Inn in Oro Valley (subject to availability). Understand you will be paying regular rack rates (our discount is no longer valid)
Entries for the Conquistador and the Shootout will be closed as of 4:00 pm Friday, April 1, 2022. This is a “hard” date.

The opening ceremonies will take place promptly at 7:20am on Tuesday April 12 between the proshop and the first tee.
Play will commence at 7:45 am on Tuesday off the first and tenth tee. Subsequent rounds will commence at 7:30 am off both tees.
A thousand thanks to Oro Valley Country Club & El Conquistador Golf & Tennis and their staffs for the superb preparation both on and off the course for these great events.

Important safety update for all competitors

This is a general update for all participants and classifications playing in our events:

Amputees: Hangar Prosthetics will have a clinician and van on site during the Shootout and the Conquistador to handle any needs you have with your prosthetics.

Vision Impaired: We currently have four extra guides if you are having a problem getting yours to the tournament. If you need one, just email admin@tiu4all.org with your registration number (you received it when you signed up)

We are working to find a masseuse that will donate their time to work with all participants in the events. Will keep you posted.

All other classifications, if you have any needs or think we should address other contingencies, feel free to email jon@tiu4all.org.

Everyone…want to share the results of the National Amputee Golf Assn. National Open (one of four majors of the Adaptive Golf world) held at Stallion Mountain Golf Club in Vegas this week. We just finished today…..:

Bottom line, UA team brought home three out of three first place for current team, and five out of five for all our AZ affiliated members. We kicked absolute ass!!! Am going to pump the UA team but will give mention to our alumni and new players (Kevin). We have some outstanding prospects that are considering UA for next years fall semester.
I cannot express the pride and appreciation I have for all of our golf team members. I am humbled, appreciative, and proud of each and every of these outstanding athletes. I personally feel we have proven that Tucson has PROVED that we ARE the center of adaptive golf in the US. It only gets better and better moving forward. Thanks to all of you who have supported us. Quick Update for the Conquistador Paragolf Championships

Just a quick update to remind everyone of the important dates coming up for the Conquistador Paragolf Championships.

Registrations have been “off the hook” great but we are lucky to have the cooperation of our host facilities and have the ability to add confirmed foursomes to our event. Let’s get registered and make this the biggest event in adaptive golf history!! We really would like to get this north of 100 if we can. We need your help!!!
Room block cutoff dates for the Wyndham Westward Look is March 11, 2022 at 5 pm MST. Prices are NOT valid after that date/time.
Room Block cutoff dates for the Hilton Conquistador is Monday March 21, 2022 at 5 pm MST. Prices are NOT valid after that date/time.
Practice rounds for both Sunday and Monday of tournament week need to be booked at least 14 days in advance. This is high season for Tucson and tee times book quickly. Don’t wait to get in!
Rental cars in Tucson are getting tighter and tighter in availability due to the amount of convention activity in town. We highly advise making your reservations as soon as you can. We are doing a special corporate 20% discount on Uber from and to the airport if you’re interested.
The awards dinner will be at FireTruck Brewery in Oro Valley. We need everyone to confirm their attendance as soon as you can so we can make sure we have enough space reserved.
We’re working on some outside activities for wives, families, and friends if they wish to experience some of the great things available in Tucson. If you’re thinking of bringing family/friends, email us at admin@tiu4all.org with expected attendees and will keep you updated on the available events.
